Mountain Biking Tucson

zzzIMG_5017sm

[slider_pro id="1"]   For years now I've been hearing and reading some good stories about the Tucson Trails, and although I had tried a couple of times to fit Tucson into my list of destinations, it never panned out.. until this time. While on one of the Moab Trails in October, I got talking with two fellow Mountain Bikers [ Doug & Bill ] They were a wealth of information about Mountain Biking Trails throughout the USA, which also included the Tucson Trails. As luck has it, when I … [Read more...]

zimg_0457

This Top 5 Mountain Biking Destinations in the USA is based purely on my personal experience I have gained while traveling around the USA for the past 5 years riding the trails. What is a Trails Destination? This Top 5 is put together with the following in mind. If you had a weeks vacation, and would like to ride at least FIVE different trails in that week, all within a 20 mile radius, then in my books these are the best places to use as a base to get the best rides.  This list is NOT a list … [Read more...]

HT Slim Shady Llama and Little HorseTrail Sedona 2011

llamafeatured

I actually started out to combine the Highline Trail with Llama, but while on the trail decided to pick up on the Slim Shady. I'm glad I ended up doing this loop, 'cos it is definitely a Sedona Classic, offering some of the sweetest singletrack Sedona has to offer. This trail can be quite busy, but most people start at Oak Creek, and lollipop it with Templeton. Get a nice early start, and the trail will be all yours, and the experience will be amazing.   Trail Stats & … [Read more...]

The Sovereign Trail Moab 2011

Sovereign Trail Moab

Last year this was my last ride in Moab, I crashed on the last mile of the Sovereign Trail cracking some ribs and my sternum. As it happened, it turned out that this would also be my last Moab ride for 2011 as well, luckily for me though, this was not due to a crash. This time around I made it around the Sovereign Trail in one piece.     Trail Stats & Information Sovereign Trail Nearby Town: Moab Length: 15.45 miles : there are numerous options to lengthen or … [Read more...]

The Pipe Dream Moab

Pipe Dream Moab

Last year October this trail did not exist, and I was pleasantly surprised to have a +10 mile singletrack at my doorstep. I did the Pipe Dream all the way, from Hidden Valley to Aspen Street and back. Having the smell of Burger King follow me all the way was not easy, knowing that it would only be a 5 min detour to add Burger King or McDonalds to the trail. This time I did not give in to temptation, but it was very difficult.     Trail Stats & Information Pipe … [Read more...]

Porcupine Rim Trail Moab 2011

porc1sm

The Porcupine Rim Trail in Moab is together with the Slickrock Trail the most popular Moab ride. This trail is probably on the wishlist of more mountain bikers than any other trail, and not just in the USA, but worldwide. The Porcupine Rim is a fantastic trail, physically it's an easy ride, 90% being a very fast downhill, however technically this trail can rip you and your steed to pieces. Many a Mountain Biker has lost the battle on the Porcupine..     Trail Stats … [Read more...]

Hidden Valley onto Moab Rim Trail 2011

zzzIMG_3806

The Hidden Valley onto Moab Rim is one of my Moab favorites. This trail offers fantastic scenery, a very remote feeling without being remote ( if anything goes wrong, it's no more than a 1.5 hour walk to civilization). The Hidden Valley onto Moab Rim trail offers everything the big trails offer, such as Porcupine. The trail can be looped, or as an out and back. This trail offers the longest and steepest slickrock downhill section, almost a mile of solid mental 22 percent … [Read more...]

May Valley and Hurkey Creek Trails Epic

zzzIMG_3254

My first attempt to ride the "24 hour loop" went a bit pear shaped, and I missed the turn off to Rage through the Sage and Tunnel of Love. While getting my steed fixed up, I got a lot of useful trail intel from the shop owner. The trails he marked for me on a very basic map were some local secrets, and there is no way I would have been able to ride them without this inside intel. The good thing was, I managed to map a loop that included the Rage through the Sage and Tunnel of Love.. I … [Read more...]

Sovereign Singletrack Trail Moab

zzzIMG_0966

. This is the first time I have actually ridden the Sovereign Trail, although I have been to the trailhead twice before, but each time it was too busy for my liking. They say the first time is always the best, but in this case I'm not so sure. Just minutes from finishing the trail I produced the "Mother of all Endo's" , Endo'in off a 4 ft legdge and finishing the Sovereign Trail by cracking my Sternum as a souvenir ... Luvly Jubly !! . Trail Stats & Information Sovereign … [Read more...]

The Portal Trail Moab

zzzIMG_0320

. The Portal Trail in Moab is known to be the most deadliest trail in the USA, is this justified or is it just a hype? I have done this trails numerous times, either looping the Poison Spider Mesa Trail, or as a Point to Point coming up Gold Bar Rim Trail. So, is the Portal Trail really as scary & dangerous as everyone makes out?...   Is the Portal Trail dangerous ? YES Is the Portal Trail Deadly ? If you fall on certain section of this Trail then definitely. Is … [Read more...]
